Happy 6th Birthday Story

Every year on February 27th I like to take a look back on her early days on the blog, as painful as it still is to look at and read. I remember on the first night of her birth the Neonatologist came to us and told us that although her future was uncertain and her health definitely critical she had “thrive to live” ...and boy, did she ever!

She is so smart, polite, respectful and in-tune with herself and others. We are often in awe of how wise beyond her years she is...and we are SO SO SO proud.

Happy Birthday Story! We love you!!

Family updates

I was talking to my Dad the other day saying that I don't print ANY photos anymore..none even make it off my phone, except the occasional shot uploaded to Facebook. I realized that this little bloggy was a pretty nice timeline of the last 5 years and has documented some of the most important occasions.

I don't think anyone checks this blog anymore, since I only post once per year..but I've decided I'm going to begin to update it a little more often. Much like a journal, I want to be able to look back and reflect on these precious days....

Happy 5th Birthday

Today our sweet girl turns 5. Wow. Our amazing, sensitive, loving, gentle, soft spoken, miracle girl Story.

Story is excelling in school, soaking it all in and learning how to count to 100, spell and read. She loves her crafts, books and her beloved “Snuggly Bunny”. She is a social butterfly who treats her friends and family with love and respect and despite Leaf’s occasional trying 2 year old behaviour she shows endless patience and love for him..like a great big sister does. What a gift she is!

Happy Birthday Story! We looooooooooove you!

Happy 4th Story!

Our sweet, sweet Story turned 4 this week. I can’t even fathom where the last 4 years went to; I know people told me the childhood years would be gone in the blink of an eye and they were right! It seems like yesterday we were hovering over her incubator just praying and begging God to let us keep her with us.

Story is truly a joy in our life. She is the sweetest, most sensitive and loving little angel we could ever have asked for. She’s quick to hug Leaf, very aware of others feelings, intuitive and one of our favourites – tells Mat nightly that she “loves him forever and always”.

I remember in the first few weeks of her life before we were allowed to touch her, I read that there was something called “non-contact therapeutic touch therapy” and it was visualizing love and healing energy pouring out of your body and into someone else’s, but without actually touching them. It has been proven to aid in the healing process and subsequent outcome of infants who can’t be touched physically. So, I would sit for hours in the afternoons and run my outstretched hands about 3-4inches over her body and imagine love, power and healing pouring out of my hands and just landing with a splash right into Story’s little body, like that of a big wave. It’s such a poignant and special memory for me, but one I’ve never shared and gets me emotional every time!

Our little girl that could. We love you Story!
